Nina Lvovna Dorliak

Nina Lvovna Dorliak ( Russian Нина Львовна Дорлиак * June 24 . Jul / 7. July  1908 greg. In St. Petersburg ; † 17th May 1998 in Moscow ) was a Russian singer ( soprano ) and close friend of Sviatoslav Richter .

Life

Nina Dorliak was the daughter of the singer and professor at the Moscow Conservatory Xenia Dorliak , where she also received her vocal training, and sister of the actor Dmitri Dorliak . In 1935 she began her career as a chamber singer . In 1947 she began teaching at the Moscow Conservatory.

In addition to Schumann , Scarlatti and Debussy , her vocal repertoire included mainly Russian composers such as Glinka , Mussorgsky , Rachmaninov , Prokofiev and Shostakovich . She met her long-time friend, the pianist Svyatoslaw Richter, in 1943 when he asked her to accompany her to a chamber concert, although he was already a senior solo pianist himself. Dorliak and Richter continued their musical collaboration until his death in August 1997.
