The Ninasi post office was in operation from 1772 to 1877. The white stone building that has been preserved to this day was erected as a type project and dates from 1824. The post office was used to change horses and take care of travelers. The coachman's rooms were in the basement , the travelers' waiting rooms and the dining room on the ground floor. The guests included Tsarina Catherine II , Honoré de Balzac (1843), Robert Schumann , Elias Lönnrot and Franz Liszt .

From 1892 to 1916 the building housed a sanatorium with eighty places for leprosy sufferers. Then the house was empty. From 1919 to 1966 the house served as a primary school.

The building is currently being renovated. It is slated to reopen as a guest house in 2013.
