The Nipehovden ( Norwegian , Japanese 手首山 Tekubi Yama , German , wrist Mountain ' ; Russian Гора Александра Невского Gora Aleksandra Newskowo , German , Alexander Nevsky Mountain' ) is a 2,361 m high mountain in the mountains Sør Rondane the East Antarctic Queen Maud Lands . It rises in the southeast of the Brattnipane , the highest peak of which it is.
Japanese scientists took aerial photographs between 1981 and 1982 and 1986 , took measurements between 1984 and 1991 and gave them descriptive names. In the arrangement of the Brattnipane, the mountain reminded them of the joint of the left hand . It was named by scientists from the Norwegian Polar Institute as early as 1973. Russian scientists, in turn, named it after the Russian prince Alexander Newski (≈1220–1263).
