Nisar Bazmi

Nisar Bazmi (* 1925 in Jalgaon , Bombay , † March 22, 2007 in Karachi ) was a Pakistani composer .

Life

At the age of 13 he received ragas and instruments from Khan Saheb Aman Ali Khan in Bombay . In 1939 Bazmi was hired as an artist by All India Radio (AIR). With his songs written for the drama Nadir Shah Durrani , all of which became radio hits, Bazmi gained notoriety and was subsequently accepted as a film music composer for the film Jamana Paar (1946). Before he left for Pakistan in 1962, Nisar Bazmi wrote music for around 40 films in India, and 14 more followed in Pakistan. The songs from Raza Mir's film Lakhoan Mein Aik are among his most successful works there .

During his career in Pakistan, Nisar Bazmi wrote songs for Runa Laila , Ahmed Rushdi , Noor Jehan and Mehdi Hassan, among others . He received five Nigar Awards for best film music composer (1968, 1970, 1972, 1979 and 1986).
