Niu Zhiyuan ( Chinese 牛 志远 ; born December 13, 1973 in Beijing ) is a former Chinese sports shooter .
successes
Niu Zhiyuan, who competed in his first professional shooting competition in 1997, took part in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney in the competition on the running target over the 10-meter distance. In the qualification he achieved the third best result after Yang Ling and Oleg Moldovan with 578 points and thus moved into the final round. He finished this again with the third-best shooting result of 99.4 points, whereby he maintained his third place behind Yang and Moldovan and won the bronze medal.
1998 Niu was in Barcelona in the individual competitions in the disciplines running target and Running Target Mix champion . In the team competition of the mix competition, he won the silver medal with Yang Ling and Jun Xiao . In 2002 he again secured second place in this discipline in Lahti with Zeng Guobin and Yang Ling, while he took third place in the team competition on the running target together with Zeng Guobin and Yang Ling. In 2006 Niu became individual world champion for the second time in Zagreb , when he took first place in the running disc discipline ahead of Alexander Blinow and Miroslav Januš . In the mix competition, he secured the bronze medal behind Łukasz Czapla and Lin Gan . In the team competitions, he won his fourth world title in the mix competition. Together with Lin Gan and Yang Ling, he placed himself at the top of the field ahead of the Ukrainian and Swedish teams. On the running target he was runner- up in the team competition with Lin Gan and Zhang Weijan . At the Asian Games in Busan in 2002 , he won the gold medal in the individual competition on the running target ahead of Her Dae-kyung and Yang Ling and also won the title with the team. In addition to Niu, Yang Ling and Zeng Guobin were part of the team. Niu won two individual World Cups in the running target.
