Niyazi Karabulut (born July 24, 1985 ) is a former Turkish ice hockey player who spent most of his career at Büyükşehir Belediyesi Ankara SK in the Turkish Super League . He has been the head coach of the Turkish women's national team since 2014 .

Career

Niyazi Karabulut began his career as a hockey player at Büyükşehir Belediyesi Ankara SK . In his first season of 2002/03 he was with the club from his hometown Turkish national champions . After a year for the Ankara University team , he returned to his home club in 2009. In 2012 he ended his career there at the age of only 27.

International

In the junior division Karabulut was on the ice for Turkey at the U20 World Championships in Division III in 2004 and 2005 . With the Turkish student selection he took part in the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum .

Karabulut played in the men's national team at the World Championships in Division III in 2008 and 2009 . He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Vancouver 2010 .

Coaching career

After the end of his active career, Karabulut hit the coaching career. After initially working as an assistant coach for the Turkish U20 team and the men's national team , he has been the head coach of the Turkish women's national team , which has played in Division II since 2015, since 2014 .
