Noël Godin (born September 13, 1945 in Liège ) is an author, critic and notorious cake thrower . He received worldwide attention when he carried out a cake attack on Bill Gates , then CEO of Microsoft , in Brussels on February 4, 1998 .

Godin says his main goal is to pinpoint as many people who are self-righteous and humorless as possible . He told The New York Times of state power , oppressive laws , moral laws , nuclear energy and any form of political power war.

Since 1969, when Godin carried out his first cake attack on the French writer Marguerite Duras , he has attacked dozens of well-known people, including a. Maurice Bejart , Patrick Poivre d'Arvor , Nicolas Sarkozy , Jean-Luc Godard and Bernard-Henri Lévy .

Godin, who uses the pseudonym "Georges Le Gloupier" , has found numerous followers all over the world who provide him with logistical information about potential targets and also provide him with operational support. He describes his group as non-violent and insists that he only uses what he calls the “tarte classique” , which essentially consists of whipped cream and soft sponge cake . He attributes his humor to classics of the comedian field such as Jerry Lewis , Wile E. Coyote , the Marx Brothers or Abbie Hoffman .

Godin often appears in the films of his friends Jan Bucquoy and Francis De Smet , a. a. in La Vie Sexuelle des Belges 1950-78 , Camping Cosmos , Opus IV: La Jouissances Des Hystériques , Tart or Vivant, Tarte ou Vivant and Les Vacances de Noël .
