Harelbeke is a Belgian city with 28,158 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the province of West Flanders .
geography
The city lies on the Leie and borders directly on the city of Kortrijk to the south . In addition to the core city, it also consists of the two districts Bavikhove and Hulste .
Ghent is 35 kilometers (km) northeast, Bruges 37 km north and Brussels about 72 km east.
traffic
The next motorway exits are at Deerlijk and Kortrijk on the A14 / E17 .
Harelbeke has a regional train station on the Lille- Cortrijk-Harelbeke-Gent railway line ; others are u. a. in Anzegem , Waregem , Izegem and Kortrijk.
There is a regional airport near the French city of Lille and there is an international airport near the Belgian capital, Brussels.

Harelbeke is the start and finish of the E3 Flanders Prize , which is held annually one week before the Tour of Flanders . The route length is about 210 km.
