Wingene is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region . It is located in the province of West Flanders and belongs to the arrondissement Tielt . Wingene has 14,263 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) and an area of ​​68.42 km². The zip code is 8750.
The community consists of the two districts Wingene and Zwevezele .

The municipality is located 7 kilometers northwest of the city of Tielt , 16 km south of Bruges , 30 km west of Ghent and 80 km west-northwest of Brussels .

The next motorway exits are at Oostkamp and Beernem on the A10 / E 40 and at Lichtervelde on the A17 .
Regional train stations are in Tielt, Lichtervelde, Beernem and Aalter ; in Bruges and Ghent there are long-distance train stations with national train connections.
