Spiere-Helkijn ( French Espierres-Helchin ) is a small Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 2049 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It is located on the western, left bank of the Scheldt , which here forms the border with the Wallonia region . Spiere-Helkijn is a municipality with facilities .

Kortrijk is 11 kilometers (km) northwest, Tournai 12 km south, Lille 22 km southwest, Ghent 42 km north-northeast and Brussels about 70 km east-northeast.

Infrastructure

The next motorway exits are at Dottignies on the A17 and at Kortrijk on the A14 / E17 . The nearest regional train stations are located in Mouscron , Kortrijk and Anzegem , among others , and national express trains also stop in Lille and Gent. There is a regional airport near Lille and an international airport near the capital, Brussels.
