Koekelare is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 8,777 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019).

Diksmuide is 10 kilometers south-west, Ostend on the Belgian coast 16 km north, Roeselare 18 km south-south-east, Bruges 20 km north-east and Brussels about 100 km east -south- east.

The next motorway exits are at Jabbeke on the A10 / E 40 , Gistel on the A18 and Ruddervoorde on the A17 .
In Torhout are the next and Diksmuide regional stations and in Ostend and Bruges keep on regional express trains.
There is a regional airport near Ostend and an international airport near the capital, Brussels.
