Nobu Naruse ( Japanese 成 瀬 野生 , Naruse Nobu ; born July 8, 1984 in Hakuba ) is a former Japanese cross-country skier .

Career

Naruse took part in competitions of the Fédération Internationale de Ski since 2001 . At the Junior World Championships in 2004 in Stryn , Norway , he was 24th in the sprint and 54th over ten kilometers in free technique. He finished tenth with the Japanese cross-country relay. He ran his first World Cup race in March 2004 in Lahti , which he finished with 73rd place in the sprint. At the Winter Universiade 2005 in Innsbruck and Seefeld in Tirol he failed in the sprint as 45th in qualification and was 56th in the mass start race over 30 kilometers.

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , he finished 58th in the skiathlon and 41st place over 15 km classic. He got his first World Cup point in March 2006 in Sapporo with 30th place in the 30 km pursuit race. At the 2007 Winter Universiade in Pragelato , Italy , he was 13th in the sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo in 2007 he reached 52nd place over 15 km freestyle. At the U23 World Championships 2007 in Tarvisio, he won bronze over 15 km freestyle. In March 2009 he reached the world cup final in Falun with 23rd place, his best single world cup placement to date. His best placings at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver were 35th in the 50km mass start race and 13th in the team sprint. In the pursuit race over 30 kilometers he was 39th and in the freestyle race over 15 kilometers he came in 49th.

Since 2010 he has mainly competed in the Far East Cup. He took eight wins and won the overall standings in the 2009/10 and 2012/13 seasons. At the 2011 Asian Winter Games , he won silver in the 15 km freestyle, in the team sprint and with the relay. His best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo were 48th place in the sprint and sixth place in the relay. In the mass start race over 50 kilometers and in the pursuit race over 30 kilometers he reached the finish line 56th. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , he reached 54th place over 15 km freestyle and eighth place with the relay. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he finished 16th with the relay. Then he ended his career.
