Live and act

Von Görschen came from the old Thuringian and later evangelical noble family von Görschen and was the son of Carl Gottlob von Görschen (1702-1754), later governor of the Electorate of Saxony, and Henriette Amanda von Bünau from the house of Kösnitz (1708-1798). Since his father had to sell his father's manor Großgörschen to his younger brother Anthon Wilhelm von Görschen as early as 1733, as an indebted Rittmeister , and the latter sold the old family seat on in 1736, Karl Friedrich Alexander von Görschen decided to pursue a career as a professional officer after his school days.

As a major and sub-unit leader of Archduke Anton's Hungarian Infantry Regiment No. 52 , Karl Friedrich Alexander von Görschen was involved in the Battle of Rivoli on January 14 and 15, 1797 as part of the First Coalition War , in which his regiment against the French units of General Barthélemy-Catherine Joubert was in dire straits. In the course of the disorderly retreat over the Alps that followed, von Görschen was involved in battles near Salurn and Cembra and suffered great losses. Nevertheless, he was commended for his bravery and promoted to lieutenant colonel.

As such, he was given command of a grenadier battalion of Infantry Regiment No. 52, which together with parts of the 19th and 34th Hungarian Infantry Regiments under the overall command of Major General Johann Baptist Reichsgraf von Alcaini formed the first line for the Second Coalition War . As part of the forward strategy against the French, they first went into battle in Taufers in the Münstertal in South Tyrol and then in Susch in the Engadine . After this time the battle was successful, von Görschen advanced with his battalion to Piedmont , where he distinguished himself on August 15, 1799 in the Battle of Novi and a few days later at Genola and Borgo San Dalmazzo .

In 1800 von Görschen was promoted to colonel and regimental commander of the Styrian Infantry Regiment NR. 27 appointed under Leopold Strassoldo. Finally, on April 28, 1804, he was promoted to major general on April 30, 1804.
