Nobuyuki Watanabe ( Japanese 渡邊 信 之 , Watanabe Nobuyuki ; born July 25, 1930 in Miyazaki Prefecture ; † August 20, 2019 ) was an Aikidōka who had been practicing since 1958 .

Life

In 1960 he became Uchi-Deshi in the Aikikai Honbu Dōjō under the founder of Aikidō , Ō-Sensei Ueshiba Morihei .

Nobuyuki Watanabe Sensei held the 8th Dan and taught until he was 80 as Shihan in the Aikikai Honbu Dōjō in Tokyo . His demonstrations of the Kokyū , with the help of which he threw opponents without contact, repeatedly aroused doubts and astonishment in his viewers both in Japan and in Germany. It is believed that these techniques were used to demonstrate the principle of aiki (harmonic power) rather than self-defense.

Professionally he worked as a chiropractor . He made the Isogai Dynamic Therapy® popular in Germany , a chiropractic method to compensate for functional leg length differences.

Since 1986 he came to Germany regularly and gave courses, including a. in Munich, Berlin and Birach. Occasionally he taught Iaidō to a closer group of students , preferring Omori Ryū (= the school of Omori). As a Shihan of the Aikikai Foundation (Zaidan hōjin aikikai) Nobuyuki Watanabe Sensei was authorized to take Kyū and Dan exams. These tests were carried out in Germany on his behalf by KenBuKai e. V. carried out.
