Emergence

The album was recorded in 2010 and 2011 in various studios in London and Los Angeles . It was produced by Noel Gallagher and Dave Sardy , who has already acted as a producer on several Oasis albums. Three of the songs on the album are older compositions that Noel Gallagher originally wrote for Oasis. From (I Wanna Live in a Dream in My) Record Machine and Stop the Clocks already demo versions circulating on the Internet.

Stop the Clocks was originally recorded for the album Don't Believe the Truth , but was temporarily removed from the tracklist. It was also the title of Oasis' best-of album from 2006, but the song is not featured on it. The third song of older origin is Dream On .

The album cover photo was taken by photographer Lawrence Watson under the roof of a gas station in Beverly Hills with a Polaroid camera.

style

All in all, the songs on Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds stay true to the Britpop sound that Gallagher already shaped with Oasis. But there are also variations on the album. In the first single The Death of You and Me, for example, brass instruments can be heard that are inspired by the Dixieland style from New Orleans . The song AKA… What a Life! is very danceable and is carried by piano chords instead of the guitar.
