Norbert Carius

Norbert Carius (born June 23, 1951 in Zweibrücken ) is a German journalist.

Career

Norbert Carius, son of a teacher, passed the Abitur examination in 1969 and then studied political science , sociology and mathematics at the universities of Saarbrücken and Trier . This was followed by a traineeship at Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) .

He continued his journalistic career from 1978 onwards at Saarländischer Rundfunk and Südwestfunk (SWF) as a radio and television reporter, moderator and editor. In 1982 he completed an internship at the French journalism school Center de formation et de perfectionnement des journalistes (CFPJ) in Paris .

From 1984 to 1989 he directed and developed Franco-German radio seminars, primarily in Montpellier, in collaboration with the Franco-German Youth Office , the Arbeiterwohlfahrt , the Ligue de l'Enseignement and the Saarland Broadcasting Corporation. In 1985 Carius took over the editorial management of the science program Output at SWF television.

From 1992 he worked as a SR correspondent in Bonn and from 1996 as an ARD radio correspondent in Paris. In 1999 Carius moved to Berlin as a TV correspondent for the ARD studio in Berlin . From 2007 he worked as a special correspondent for Saarländischer Rundfunk and as an ARD media reporter.

Since 2009 Carius has been working again as a TV correspondent for the ARD capital studio.

His journalistic areas of expertise include the SPD , the Left Party , education and research, and finance, health and the environment.

Awards

For his commitment to the understanding of Germans and French, he was honored on December 7, 2006 by the French Ambassador Claude Martin in Berlin with the Order of a Knight of the National Order of Merit.

  • 1989: European television award Prix CEDEFOP for the modular TV documentary Europe - schoolchildren learn for the market of tomorrow
  • 1992: (together with Michael Thieser, Gerd Heger, Harald Martin and Gilles Margerand), special award from the Franco-German Youth Office for the development and long-term management of radio seminars for young people
  • 2006: Order of the Knight of the National Order of Merit of the Republic of France
