Norbert Groddeck (born July 2, 1946 in Neu-Isenburg ) is a German educational scientist at the University of Siegen . He is an art educator and conceptual co-founder of client-centered art therapy. His main focus is on the transition area between education and psychotherapy .

Life

As a qualified pedagogue , supervisor , art therapist and as a co-founder of the working group for client -centered therapy and humanistic pedagogy (akt-Siegen), he represents the person-centered approach that goes back to Carl Rogers in the field of pedagogy , psychotherapy and art therapy . He is through various training activities for educators, psychologists and medical professionals and through relevant publications on open-ended learning, the movement of reform and alternative schools and, together with his wife Ariane von Gottberg -Groddeck, through the development of an independent concept for a client-centered Art therapy became known.

academic career

After studying to be a teacher for art and sport in Jugenheim an der Bergstrasse and after having first professional experience as a teacher in the Untertaunus district , he began a second degree in 1968 at the University of Frankfurt / Main, which he completed as a qualified pedagogue. In 1974 he received a scholarship from the Volkswagenwerk Foundation and became an associate member of the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF) in Frankfurt am Main (Professor Mitter). Together with Christoph Wulf he was a co-author at the radio college "Advice in Education". In 1975 he was at the University of Frankfurt at the chair of Klaus Mollenhauer at Helmut Becker , Friedhelm Nyssen , Ernest Jouhy and Ulrich Oevermann Dr. phil. (Educational Science ) with a thesis "On the theory of school-based learning processes" . The habilitation in educational science followed in 1979 at Faculty 2 of the University of Siegen on the subject: "Structural problems in school education".

Since 1976 Groddeck has taught in Faculty 2 at the University of Siegen, from 1979 on as a private lecturer and since 1995 as professor of educational science. As part of this task, he initiated a specialization in person-centered counseling in the degree course in pedagogy and started the Siegen tutor program in the integrative model course of extracurricular education and training. He was chairman of the management committee of the integrated model course and has headed the academic examination office (BA / MA) since 2002.

Practical fields of work

In addition to his academic teaching activities, Norbert Groddeck supervised various practical professional projects in (advisory) teacher training (North Rhine-Westphalia and Saarland) and founded various regional projects in private sponsorship: the cultural education association IFPAKE eV, the children's and youth art school Siegen and the academy "person-centered ". Norbert Groddeck works as a supervisor (DGSv) in parenting and family counseling. From 1980 to 1992 he worked as a trainer in the Society for Scientific Conversational Psychotherapy and in 1987 co-founded the Training Institute for Client-Centered Psychotherapy (AKP g. GmbH, Bonn). To this day he is the founder and head of the working group for client-centered therapy and humanistic education (akt-Siegen). In addition, he is the "person-centered" scientific director of the academy, where he also works as a lecturer in extra-occupational training and further education.

He is the editor of the magazine "Person-Zentriert", which is published by Feder-Verlag in Heidelberg-Eppelheim and has so far published around 60 articles in specialist journals.
