Norbert Rieder

Norbert Rieder (born May 8, 1942 in Berlin-Tempelhof ) is a German zoologist and CDU politician .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1961, Rieder studied biology , chemistry and geography in Karlsruhe and Tübingen . In 1969 the doctorate to Dr. rer. nat. In 1969 he first became a research assistant and later an academic councilor at the Zoological Institute of the University of Karlsruhe . In 1974 he completed his habilitation in the field of zoology. Since 1980 he has been a university professor for zoology. From 1982 to 1991 Norbert Rieder worked as a nature conservation officer in the Karlsruhe district. From 1990 to 1998 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

He is Roman Catholic , married and has three children.

Political activity

Norbert Rieder has been a member of the CDU since 1972. From 1980 to 1990 he was CDU local chairman in the Karlsruhe district of Grünwettersbach . From 1990 to 1998 he was a directly elected member of the Bundestag for constituency 175 (Karlsruhe-Stadt) .

Nature and species protection

As long-time president of the Federal Association for Professional Nature and Species Protection e. V. (BNA), Rieder campaigned for breeding programs for endangered animals by private breeders.

Rieder took part in the World Climate Protection Conference in Kyoto in 1997 , where the Kyoto Protocol was adopted.
