Northwest ( French Nord-Ouest or English North West ) is a region of Cameroon with the capital Bamenda .
geography
The province of Nord-Ouest is located in the west of the country and borders the Adamaua region in the east, the West region in the southeast , the Southwest region in the southwest and Nigeria in the north . The province is largely located in the Bamenda highlands , the highest point of which is the Oku volcanic mountain range, which is 3,011 meters high . A second high mountain range in the province are the Bamenda Mountains . The province gained international fame through the tragedy on Lake Nyos on August 21, 1986.
