The North Star shipping company is a shipping company in the city of Brandenburg an der Havel . The shipping company operates several passenger ships and, at times, ferry lines .
history
The shipping company belonged to the couple Lothar and Kerstin Bischoff. It was named after the steam tug Nordstern , the first and oldest ship in the fleet . This ship, built in 1902 in the Gebr. Wiemann shipyard in Brandenburg an der Havel, came into the possession of Lothar Bischoff as early as the 1980s. From 1983 to 1990 the Nordstern was still used as a push tug.
The current shipping company (as of May 2019) has belonged to the Pegasus since June 23, 1998 , a passenger ship of the series (BiFa) Type IV built in 1992 . She is the largest ship in the shipping company. Ten years later, on May 12, 2008, the Nordstern Reederei acquired the Sirius motor ship, built in 1993 . Another passenger ship in the Nordstern fleet is the Navette .
Ferry service during the Federal Garden Show
With the two ferries acquired in 2012 and previously used in Dresden by the Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe , which the shipping company renamed Anna and Frieda , the company entered ferry operations for the first time. Since 2013, from April to October, the approximately 8.5-kilometer route from Salzhof in downtown Brandenburg via the Buhnenhaus zur Malge stop has been used in regular service.
In the run-up to the 2015 Federal Horticultural Show , the shipping company won the tender for ferry operation at the Brandenburg an der Havel location. As so-called BUGA ferries, the Frieda ships and the ferry boats Pusteblume , Busy Lieschen and Klatschmohn, purchased especially for the garden show , operated for shuttle transport on the Havel from the central parking lot on Wiesenweg west of Neustadt to the Packhof and Salzhof banks at the St. Johannis Church . The ferry line with its three stations had a total length of about one kilometer. After the Federal Horticultural Show, this ferry line was discontinued.
At the end of 2017, the Bischoffs sold the shipping company to Lars Jahnke, who only took over the ships Pegasus , Sirius and Navette . The Nordstern went to another unknown owner.
