The North Hill Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary is one, named after the same marsh, 146 acres (59.1 ha ) large reserve at Duxbury in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It is administered by the Massachusetts Audubon Society .
Protected area
The reserve is located within the eastern green belt of the city of Duxbury, which comprises around 1,000 acres (4 km²) of contiguous green space. It consists mainly of oak and pine forests , wetlands and a 90 acres (36.4 ha) lake and is particularly suitable for migratory birds . In addition to birds such as ring-billed ducks , dark ducks , buffalo-headed ducks , cap saws , herons and kingfishers , alligator turtles , ornamental turtles , tropical tortoises and box turtles can also be observed. There were nesting boxes distributed over the bottom area, in which about 100 pairs sump swallows nest. Mink , muskrats and otters can also be found on the lakeshore . There are a total of 5 mi (8 km ) of hiking trails around the lake and through the forest .
