North Pole is a small town in Alaska , about 20 km southeast of Fairbanks . The place is located in the Fairbanks North Star Borough and has 2117 inhabitants (2010).

The Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) operates the North Pole Satellite Station near North Pole. Due to its location in the polar region, it is particularly suitable for satellites with a high orbit inclination. This station can receive satellite data as well as send control signals to the satellites.
