history

In the spring of 1959, the Perl-Mack Co. had completed their plans to build a new residential area north of Denver . Facilities for trade and industry as well as schools and leisure facilities should be built around a regional shopping center. On June 30, 1959, more than 15,000 interested parties visited the first five model homes. In 1962 the developing settlement already had around 10,000 inhabitants in 3,000 households. The central mall opened under the name Northglenn Mall in 1968. On April 18, 1969, Northglenn was officially declared a city.

The shopping center, which was important for the initial planning and development of the city, began to deteriorate in the 1990s after initially losing local shops and subsequently losing more and more customers. It was demolished in 1999; in the meantime a new business and catering center has been built in its place.
