The Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité is a Romanesque parish church in the municipality of Bois-Sainte-Marie in the Saône-et-Loire department in the Burgundy region ( France ), built in the 12th century. It was listed as a monument historique in 1862 .

history

The place name of the community appears for the first time in 998 in a land register of the Cluny monastery , which had a priory in the village. Even before the French Revolution , parish ministry was performed by secular clergy.

The Church has the patronage of the Birth of Mary. In the middle of the 19th century, the church was restored by Eugène Millet , a pupil of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc .

The church has a three-aisled nave and a retracted transept. The choir opens in pointed and arched arcades for ambulatory . The capitals of both the choir room and the nave are mostly designed simply.
