Nová řeka
The Nová řeka (German "New River") is a canal in the Czech Republic that leads water from the Lainsitz into the Nežárka in the Třeboňská pánev .
The 13.46 kilometer long canal was built between 1585 and 1587 under the direction of the Rosenberg hydraulic engineer Jakob Krčín von Jelčany during the construction of the Rosenberg pond . Below the water divider, the Lainsitz up to the confluence of the Nežárka is also known as Stará řeka ( Old River ).
In order to protect the pond in which the Lainsitz is dammed from flood water, an artificial watercourse was created north of Majdalena , which branches off to the right above the pond at the single layer U Soukupů from the Lainsitz ( 48 ° 59 ′ 13 ″ N , 14 ° 50 ′ 57 ″ E ) and past Stříbřec and Mláka in a northerly direction through the foothills of the Kardašořečická pahorkatina to Nežárka. It flows into the river northwest of the settlement Šimanov in the triangle between Novosedly nad Nežárkou , Plavsko and Stráž nad Nežárkou ( 49 ° 5 ′ 5 ″ N , 14 ° 52 ′ 0 ″ E ). From the baroque castle Jemčina in the north, an avenue leads to the junction. The ponds Nový Vdovec, Ženich and Vyšehrad on the right side of the Lainsitz are fed by the Nová řeka.
The construction of the Nová řeka led to flood damage in Stříbřec since the 16th century, which repeatedly led to differences between the Chlum u Třeboně rule as the owner of the village and the Třeboň rule as the owner of the Rosenberg pond and thus the beneficiary of the canal. More recently, in the years 1829, 1890, 2002 and 2006, the Nová řeka was flooded, which is 20 m wide and has a gradient of 0.9 per thousand.
A monument to Ema Destinová , who owned the chateau in neighboring Stráž nad Nežárkou , was erected on the left bank of the canal to the northwest of Stříbřec .
