history

Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Neuhäusl

In 1699 the wooded area around today's village fell to the rule of Groß Maierhöfen . In 1703 the village already had 423 inhabitants.

Church with a war memorial

In 1786 an exposition was set up here. At that time the chapel was still used for church services. In 1787 a cemetery was also laid out. Construction of a larger church began in 1791. Due to the French wars, however, construction was stopped. In 1808 a wooden, simpler church was built on the existing foundation walls. The new church was built between 1834 and 1838 under Count Franz Anton von Kolowrat-Liebsteinsky . In 1854 she was raised to a parish.

After the abolition of patrimonial Neuhäusl formed from 1849 with the district Reichenthal a municipality in the judicial district of Tachau . From 1868 the village belonged to the Tachau district . After the Munich Agreement , the community was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Tachau district until 1945 . In 1948 it was incorporated into Rozvadov.

The spacious church has been empty since the Germans were expelled and left to decay. The same is true of the cemetery.

In 1991 the place had 16 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 8 houses in which 14 people lived.

Removal of the iron curtain

Monument to the opening of the Iron Curtain

A special feature of the place is that the Foreign Ministers of the Federal Republic of Germany Hans-Dietrich Genscher and his Czechoslovak counterpart Jiří Dienstbier symbolically cut the Iron Curtain on December 23, 1989 . Today a monument commemorates this historical act.
