Nova Santa Rita is a city with a population of 28,670 (2018 estimate) in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil . It is located about 20 km north of Porto Alegre . Neighboring are the towns of Canoas , Capela de Santana , Montenegro , Triunfo , Esteio , Portão , Viamão , Sapucaia do Sul . Originally Nova Santa Rita was part of the Canoas municipality.
