Nox ( own spelling NOX ) is a band from Hungary . The name of the band comes from Roman mythology, in which Nox represents the personification of night / darkness, according to the Greek Nyx .

Career and musical style

Since their debut album Örökség, Nox have become superstars in Hungary. Örökség achieved gold status in their home country within the first three months . Their music is a mixture of national folk tunes and electronic sounds. Nox is also very well known and successful in Hungary's neighboring countries such as Romania and Slovenia. Nox is actually built around the duo of lead singer Szilvia Péter Szabó and choreographer Tamás Nagy, but now has 14 members. For various projects, they always get the support of other artists. Their spectrum ranges from pop to rock (music) to folk and dance elements similar to the Riverdance event include their performances.

Eurovision Song Contest

The Hungarian broadcaster MTV received 36 suggestions for titles , including Forogj világ (Turn you, the world) from Nox. A jury of experts selected twelve titles, which competed on March 13, 2005 in the national preliminary decision (Eurovíziós Dalverseny - Magyarországi Elődöntő) for the ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kiev . Nox managed to prevail against the eleven competitors and thus became the official representative of Hungary at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.

After surviving the preliminary round, Nox finally reached the 12th place among 24 participants in the final with 97 points on May 21, 2005. With Nox, Hungary took part in this competition for the first time since the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 .
