Ntabankulu (formerly Tabankulu ) is a town in the province of Eastern Cape in South Africa . It is the seat of the municipality Ntabankulu in the district Alfred Nzo .

In 2011 Ntabankulu had 3266 inhabitants. In 2011, 92 percent of residents named isiXhosa as their mother tongue. The name of the city refers to the isiXhosa expression for "big mountain". The place is rural.
history
Until 1994 the place belonged to the Homeland Transkei .
