Nuh Ali Salman al-Qudah

Sheikh Nuh Ali Salman al-Qudah ( Arabic نوح علي سلمان القضاة, DMG Nūḥ ʿAlī Salmān al-Quḍāh ; * 1939 in Ayn Janna , Adschlun , Jordan ; †  December 19, 2010 in Amman ) was a prominent Sunni legal scholar of Asharite theology from the Shafi'ite school of law. He was Grand Mufti of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan .

He studied at Damascus University , later at al-Azhar University in Cairo , Egypt , and the Imam Muhammad ibn Saud University in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia . From 1996 to 2001 he was Jordan’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran . He was a member of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought and the Senior Scholars Council of the Tabah Foundation .

He is the author of the Qada 'al-'Ibadat , which was received by Nuh Ha Mim Keller , among others .

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( english A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (English: "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ..." ) (October 13, 2007).
