Zero wins was a German television program in the form of a quiz and advice show. It ran until March 1, 2013 on Fridays from 6:50 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. on ARD.

The moderator was Dieter Nuhr , the referee tending towards the co-moderator was Ralph Caspers , who in addition to his role also provided factual information on the questions.

Game concept

Three pairs of candidates competed on the show. You have been asked questions to which there are several possible answers. The aim of the candidates was to find the most unusual answers possible to the questions. For the answers there were points that were based on the percentage of the previously questioned people who had also given these answers. The winner was the couple who had accumulated the fewest points and who had given answers that were correct, but had previously been given by as few test candidates as possible.

British model and international offshoot

Zero wins was a production by Mr. P in collaboration with Endemol Germany on behalf of ARD advertising for Das Erste . The executive producer was Sven Steffensmeier , the editorial team was Burkhard Bergermann (NDR). The show started on July 20, 2012. In the first four months of broadcasting, the show achieved only low ratings, averaging just over a million viewers, and market shares of around 5 percent of all television viewers. However, the quotas later rose to a market share of up to 6 percent. Nevertheless, the program was discontinued on March 1, 2013.

On Swiss television SRF 1 ran from August 2012 to September 2014 with Less is more, a similar show hosted by Patrick Hässig . Like Zero Wins , it was based on the British Pointless format , which has been running successfully on the BBC for years. Less is more ran on the slot where 5 gegen5 was previously shown , i.e. a contradicting format in which it was about the most frequently mentioned answers, while at zero wins and less is more the least mentioned answers were sought.
