Nuno Sanchez of Roussillon ( Catalan .: Nunó or Nunyo Sanç, French : Nuno Sanche) (* around 1185, † 1242 ) was Count of Cerdanya and Roussillon .

His father was Sancho , his mother Sancha from the house of Lara . From him he inherited the counties of Cerdanya and Roussillon in 1212. In 1215 his father married him to Peronella, daughter of Bernard IV of Bigorre. However, the marriage was already in the following year by Pope Honorius III. canceled.

In 1213 Nuño came too late in the battle of Muret to save the life of King Peter II . He and his father then served as regents for Peter's young heirs until he came of age in 1223, the year Sancho died. Nuño initially continued to serve him, but later turned away from him. In 1226 he bought the Fenouillèdes and Peyrepertuse from the King of France, Louis "the Lion" , to whom he swore allegiance. In 1229 he took part in a campaign against the Moors occupied Mallorca . This presumably represents his return of his loyalty to Aragon, as the conquest of Mallorca from the Almoravids was a long cherished goal of the Crown of Aragon . In 1234 Mallorca finally fell and Nuño received many lands. Nuño accompanied James I on his military expeditions in Navarre and Valencia .

In 1220 he married Teresa López, daughter of Lupus III., Lord of Bizkaia . Since they had no children, his lands and titles went to the king when he died. He was buried in the hospital in Bajoles, near Perpignan. He left an illegitimate son, the "Bastard of Roussillon", who defended the city of Elne in 1284 during the Aragonese Crusade .
