action

At the beginning of the film, the young couple Vlad and Vica quarrel on a train. Vica is pregnant and the two want to live together, but they need the necessary money. That is why the two of them set out from Romania for Moldova, the home country of Vica. Their wedding is supposed to take place there, which in addition to meeting the family also means giving money. When they reach the family in Chișinău , they are in mourning because the family's dog has died. Vica's father, a poet, does not make a toast to the couple during the celebration, but a poem in honor of the dog. Various shadows of the past appear at the wedding. On the one hand old lovers, on the other hand the history of the region in which Russia and Romania are still struggling for influence today. The family met the Romanian groom with suspicion and questioned his love for Vica and his political views. In particular, Vica's brother-in-law, who is in love with her, harasses Vlad. Despite these conflicts, it is ultimately a joyful wedding party.
