Nunu Abashydze

Nunu Abaschydze ( Ukrainian Нуну Абашидзе , English transcription Nunu Abazhydze; born March 27, 1955 in Novovolynsk ) is a former Ukrainian shot putter who competed for the Soviet Union .

In 1979 she was second at the European Athletics Cup in Turin .

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow and the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1981 in Grenoble, she was fourth, and at the European Athletics Championships in 1982 in Athens, she won bronze.

In 1983 she was fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Budapest , fourth at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki and third at the European Athletics Cup in London

A fourth place at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg in 1984 was followed by bronze medals at the Friendship Competitions and the 1985 World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris.

In 1986 she was fourth at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid and sixth at the European Championships in Stuttgart .

She was twice Soviet champion (1982, 1984) and four times Soviet indoor champion (1979, 1981, 1984, 1986).
