Nusspli is the brand name of a hazelnut nougat spread from the manufacturer Zentis .

As a competitor to the market leader Nutella from the manufacturer Ferrero , Zentis developed the Nusspli spread. Nusspli lagged behind Nutella's 60% market share with a 20% share in 1992. Since the 2000s, Nusspli has been the second most popular purchase after Nutella. In July 2010 the design of the packaging was updated. At the same time as the relaunch, the product was awarded the seal of quality from the ifp Institute for Product Quality, whose award criteria include regular quality controls from the raw materials to the end product. Today, there are plastic cups of 200 g and 400 g in retail and portion packs of 20 g for large customers.

Comparable to other nut-nougat spreads such as Nutella , Nudossi , Nugatti or Samba , Nusspli consists of the main ingredients sugar and vegetable oils and fats for the creamy consistency . As with Nutella, the hazelnut content is around 13%. Nusspli also contains a small amount of almonds. The palm oil used in Nusspli is certified according to the mass balance approach of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil and increases the production of sustainable palm oil in accordance with the standard .

mascot

The mascot of the Nusspli product is the zentino , a comic advertising character with green dungarees and green hair , on whose head a handle has been placed as an analogy to the hazelnut . A Zentino Club, geared towards children and young people aged six to thirteen, existed from 1995 to 1999 and had around 2,000 members who received the Zentino Club magazine every quarter. Test results

In the Ökotest 11/2006, increased values ​​for trans fatty acids in Nusspli were found. According to a report in Ökotest May 2007, these were reduced to a harmless level through the use of unhardened vegetable oil. In the test in issue 5/2009 of the Austrian consumer magazine Konsument, Nusspli achieved eighth place among 14 chocolate spreads. The test was only of little informative value, as the first eleven of the 14 products tested, including Nusspli, received the result “very good”. In the June 2009 edition of the Ökotest, genetically modified soy was detected in Nusspli .
