Michael Weiß (soccer coach)

Michael Weiß (born March 11, 1965 in Dannenfels ) is a German football coach . From January 2011 to January 2014 he was the national coach of the Philippine national team . He has been the national coach of the Mongolian national team since January 2017 .

After his active time as a goalkeeper at FK Pirmasens , Weiss sat in as a coach a. a. at Manchester United under Alex Ferguson , at Arsenal under Arsène Wenger , at Real Madrid under Vanderlei Luxemburgo , at 1. FC Kaiserslautern and at CA River Plate . From 2001 to 2004 he worked as an assistant trainer at Kyoto Purple Sanga in Japan. From 2004 to 2006 he was assistant trainer for junior national coach Eckhard Krautzun in China, before becoming technical director in 2007by Rwanda's Football Association. In this function was u. a. Responsible for promoting youth, looking after the U-17 national team, developing women's football and reforming coaching training based on the German model.

In 2010 he signed a two-year contract as National Coach of the Philippines after successfully applying to an online job posting from the Philippine Football Federation . He intensified the scouting for European players with Filipino roots and recruited players such as Manuel Ott and Stephan Schröck . From June to September 2014 he was the coach of the Romanian first division club Oțelul Galați .

Weiß is a qualified sports scientist / sports teacher and has the A license as a trainer , which he acquired under training manager Erich Rutemöller . He is married and has two daughters.
