Nyord is a Danish island north of the island of Møn on Steger Bay . The island is 3.8 km long and 2.3 km wide and has 34 inhabitants (January 1, 2020) with an area of 4.99 km². The island has a small boat harbor on the south coast . Since 1968 the island has been connected to the Ulvshale peninsula on Møn by a dam with a bridge .
The island forms its own parish , Nyord Sogn , which belonged to Harde Mønbo Herred in what was then Præstø Amt until 1970 , then to Møn Kommune in what was then Storstrøms Amt , which was merged into Vordingborg Municipality in the Sjælland region on January 1, 2007 with the municipal reform is.
