Nyschnij Werbisch ( Ukrainian Нижній Вербіж ; Russian Нижний Вербиж Nischni Werbisch , Polish Wierbiąż Niżny ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast Ivano-Frankivsk with about 2,700 inhabitants (2004).

UNESCO World Heritage : The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary

Nyschnij Werbisch is located at the mouth of two mountain rivers in the Prut in the south of the Kolomyja district . The district center of Kolomyja , on the opposite bank of the Prut, can be reached via a bridge over which the regional road P-24 runs.

In the village, first mentioned in writing in 1375, there is the church building of the Greek Orthodox Church for the birth of the Virgin Mary . It is one of the wooden churches of the Carpathian region in Poland and Ukraine , which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013 .

Since September 12, 2016 the place the administrative center of the 64.99 square kilometers of rural community Nyschnij Werbisch (Нижньовербізька сільська громада / Nyschnjowerbiska silska hromada ) with a total of 10,523 inhabitants that even the villages Velyky Kljutschiw with 3417 inhabitants, Verkhny Werbisch ( Верхній Вербіж , ) with 1510 inhabitants and Myshyn ( Мишин , ) with 2846 inhabitants.
