The Upper Austrian Transport Holding GmbH is the holding company in which the interests of the province of Upper Austria on transport infrastructure is organized.

history

Investing in transport infrastructure has always been one of the country's central tasks. From the time of the monarchy, the maintenance of the state roads was taken over, with 2002 also the former federal roads. Shares in rail infrastructure through public-private partnership projects in the post-war period were also owned by the state, as were Linz Airport and Ennshafen. In 1995, the state-wide transport association was set up, in which the state - in addition to its role as a steering body - was also involved as an infrastructure owner.

In September 2005 the OÖ Verkehrsholding was created for the transport-related holdings and incorporated into the OÖ Landesholding , the overall holding structure of the Landes. - The ropeway holdings, which are also legally covered by transport companies, are, however, located in a separate group, the OÖ Seilbahnholding .

In the 1990s the Nahverkehr-Errichtungs-Gesellschaft  mbH (NAVEG) was founded together with the City of Linz to handle larger infrastructure projects (tram extension Harter Plateau, City-S-Bahn). This also came to Verkehrsholding in 2005, but the city of Linz left the company and NAVÖG was liquidated in 2006/07.

The OÖ Verkehrsholding is organized in the legal form of a company with limited liability , with the OÖ Landesholding as the sole shareholder . The holding is located in Linz , at the headquarters of Upper Austria . Transport association .
