The local railway company Lambach-Vorchdorf-Eggenberg  AG is 72.5% owned by the federal government , 11% OÖ Verkehrsholding  GmbH, 9.4% market municipality Lambach , 3.3% market municipality Vorchdorf , and 2.7% is owned by Stern & Hafferl Verkehrs -GmbH , which also operates the railway, the rest is free float.

history

The project to build the railway line was presented in 1897 by the Stern & Hafferl company. Opened on September 13, 1903. The management was  handed over from the local railway AG to the kuk Staatsbahn, which handled the transport services with steam locomotives . The global economic crisis in 1930 and 1931 prompted the Lokalbahn AG to hand over management to the Stern & Hafferl company, which had become known for its economical but effective local railway operations. The company took over the management on May 1st, 1931 and began to switch from steam to electrical operation. On November 14, 1931, the line was fully electrified. Since then, it has been operated with 750  volts direct current . Until 1949 there was still a connection with the Lambach – Haag am Hausruck local railway at Lambach station . Furthermore, there was a connection to the Eggenberg brewery in the 1980s - the route at that time had a total length of 15.7 kilometers. This branch line was used for freight traffic.

In 2006, two vehicles were taken over from the Linz Local Railway , which had previously been bought by the Cologne transport company, and have since been used in scheduled service as required. On the occasion of the 1st Upper Austrian Future Festival, which took place in Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting , on May 31 and June 1, a modern low-floor vehicle of the type Stadler-GTW operated by Linz Local Railway ran every hour on loan .

On December 11, 2011, the new Vorchdorf industrial park stop went into operation.
