ONTV stands for “O berpfalz- N iederbayern- TV”. ONTV was an amalgamation of the 6 regional television stations in Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria, which broadcast together on digital satellite and initially also in the digital cable network from 2002 to 2013 . They took turns in an hourly rhythm.

The participating broadcasters were:

An initially jointly designed magazine, which was broadcast from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and from 11:30 p.m. to midnight (instead of the 2nd broadcast of TRP1), was discontinued soon after it started broadcasting. Between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., only a test image was usually sent, which indicated the transmission times from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

As part of the DVB-S offensive by the Bavarian State Center for New Media to promote regional television stations, at least one satellite station was made available per Bavarian administrative district on December 4, 2012. Thus ONTV was replaced by the Niederbayern broadcaster (regional television Landshut, Donau TV and TRP1) and the joint broadcaster TVA / OTV. Since several stations can be sent over one channel via DVB-S, the reception data remained the same - only the station identification changed (instead of ONTV Regional now Niederbayern or TVA-OTV)
