OSS 117

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

OSS 117 is the code name of the fictional secret agent Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath , an invention of the French writer Jean Bruce , who wrote the first story about the cosmopolitan heartthrob in 1949. By the time he died, Bruce wrote 88 novels. His wife Josette then added 143 more stories to the series and another 24 stories to his children François and Martine ; the last was published in 1996. In Germany the novels were published as paperbacks by Moewig Verlag .

In real life, the code number 117 was assigned to William L. Langer , chief of the Research and Analysis Branch of the OSS .

Film adaptations

With the success of James Bond- style agent films , a number of OSS-117 films have also been made.

The films The Spy Who Loved Himself and He Is Enough Of Himself are parodies of said agent films of the 1960s and 70s; Comedian Oliver Kalkofe , who also wrote the dubbing book, voiced the role of Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath .
