OX is an alternative rock / post grunge band from Karlsruhe, founded in 2015 .

history

OX was founded in Karlsruhe in 2015 by the former members of the progressive rock band Fire on Dawson . The band consists of initiator and namesake Simon Ochs (vocals, guitar), Nadir Zee (guitar), Niklas Reinfandt (bass) and Max Siegmund (drums).

Her debut album Rewind to Overwrite , which was mixed by Patrick Damiani in the TidalWave Studio and mastered by Robin Schmidt at 24-96 Mastering, was released on all common platforms in the year it was founded.

In addition to the 14 songs included, the band released three music videos in the following year 2016.

After more than 40 live performances across Germany and a tour of Eastern Europe in March 2017, the band went back to the studio in the middle of the year to start recording and producing their second studio album Breaking Point . The same production team was relied on as with the first album. In the course of 2019, the band released 4 advance singles with accompanying music videos, all of which were self-directed. The complete album was finally released on October 4, 2019 via Timezone Records and contains 10 new songs. The release was positively received by critics and brought the band significantly increased stream numbers as well as attention in social networks and international blogs.

style

OX call their music alternative rock and post-grunge . The second can be understood as a reference to the bands that formed in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band refers to role models such as Three Days Grace , Breaking Benjamin , Alter Bridge and Stone Sour .

In general, the band's songs are characterized by hard riffs, rhythmic verses and catchy refrains.

Her lyrics deal mainly with the problems of society, interpersonal relationships and relationships, with songwriter Simon Ochs always taking a philosophical approach.

The debut album Rewind to Overwrite was musically no limits and moves in a wide spectrum from rock, grunge , progressive to Latin influences. In contrast, on the second album Breaking Point , the band found a more solid style between 90s grunge and modern rock sounds.

  • " Breaking Point manages a balancing act between modern grunge rock and the familiar classic rock sound of the greats." - Review by MusiNah.de
  • "Going Down is exactly how this kind of music was meant to be - wild, rough around the edges, fearless, confident, and with the right amount of kick-ass" - F. Maier from KMS Reviews
