Oak Point is a city in Denton County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located on Farm Road 424 in northeast Texas, is approximately 60 km north of Oklahoma and has a total area of 15.4 km², of which 0.6 km² is water.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 1,747 people in 600 households and 498 families lived here. The population density was 118.3 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 93.53% White, 1.03% African American, 0.74% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 2.35% non-American ethnic groups. About 2.12% were mixed race and 7.27% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 600 households, 42.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 75.5% of them were married couples living together. 6.0% were single mothers and 17.0% were non-families. 13.0% of all households were single households and 2.8% had people living there who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.91 and the average family size was 3.22.
