The Oakover River is a river in the Pilbara region in the northwest of the Australian state of Western Australia .
geography
The river has its source north of the Wadara Range and west of the Saltbush Range near the settlement of Junction Well . This area is north of the Small Sand Desert . On the western edge of an area over which the Aborigines of Martu a Native Title hold, and along the Throssell Range , the Gregory Range and the Isabella range of Oakover River flows north, where he located southeast of the settlement Callawa on the southwestern edge of the Great Sandy Desert to the Nullagine River unites to form the De Gray River .

history
The first European to discover the Oakover River was Francis Gregory . His colleague Peter Warburton crossed the river on a camel in 1873 towards the end of his expedition through the Great Sand Desert.
The original owners of this land were the Aborigines from the Njamal or Nyamal tribe .
