The De Gray River is a river in the Pilbara region in the northwest of the Australian state of Western Australia .

geography

The river arises south of the settlement Callawa on the southern edge of the Great Sand Desert from the confluence of the Nullagine River and Oakover River . From there it flows to west-northwest, where it flows into the Indian Ocean around 70 kilometers northeast of Port Hedland . Its river bed is 100 to 130 meters wide in the lower reaches and dried out for most of the year. The land on its fertile shores is rich in grass and trees.
