Ober-Roden donation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ober-Roden donation was established by Reinhard von Hanau-Lichtenberg (1494–1537) with his will . Reinhard was a later son of Count Philip II of Hanau-Lichtenberg and Anna von Isenburg . He was canon in Strasbourg and Cologne and pastor in Ober-Roden .

The foundation began its work in 1543 when the Frankfurt Heilig-Geist-Spital was appointed administrator and the capital, the proceeds from the fortune of Reinhard von Hanau-Lichtenberg, was handed over. It was a sum of at least 900 guilders . The interest was distributed to the poor in Ober-Roden and Kolbsheim in Alsace . The pastor and the top of the secular authorities in Ober-Roden - initially the Count's mayor , and then the mayor in the end - decided who was to be considered from the foundation.

The foundation served its purpose for several hundred years. However, the capital, and with it the interest income, dwindled visibly. After the great inflation of the 1920s, only 300 RM remained and the annual amount available had fallen below 10 RM. The last payment was probably made in 1937.

On the occasion of the city's 1200th anniversary, the city of Rödermark revived the foundation in 1990. The Frankfurt Heilig-Geist-Spital handed over the rest of the capital of the old foundation, now amounting to 300 DM .
