The technical reach TVO is, according to media data of the station when about 700,000 people in the cable network. TVO can also be freely received around the clock via the digital cable network of Vodafone Kabel Deutschland . However, many regions of Upper Franconia are not connected to the cable network, for this reason the program on the Astra 1M satellite is broadcast over the entire area via DVB-S. Campus TV
Christian Limpert and David Meadows-Hertig, two students on the Bachelor's degree in “Theater and Media”, had the idea in November 2002 at the University of Bayreuth to make television from students for students as part of the annual “5 Euro Business” competition . In addition to the competition, the two worked out a concept in the following months and won numerous interested fellow students as well as Jürgen E. Müller from the professorship for media studies as supporters. The project was then presented to the regional television broadcaster TV Oberfranken, which expressed interest in broadcasting programs in the regular program.
On Wednesday, December 3, 2003, “ Campus TV , the media project of the University of Bayreuth ” went on air for the first time on the TVO frequency at 6:30 p.m. Since then, media studies students from Bayreuth have primarily produced the fifteen-minute magazine program in cooperation with TV Oberfranken. Research, shooting and editing of the contributions are in the hands of the students. They are supported by project manager Jürgen E. Müller and coordinator Jens Wagner and the editorial team of TV Oberfranken.
Campus TV covers all Upper Franconian universities: In addition to the University of Bayreuth, these are the University of Bamberg , the Hof University and the Coburg University . The topics of the show are mixed and aimed at the target group of students. Every Upper Franconian student also has the opportunity to work on this project. Today, Campus TV broadcasts every first Thursday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
