Obergneus is a district of Gneus in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .
geography
Because the landscape is hilly, the settlements and villages around Gneus are called hill country community . These places have access to the surrounding area via Geisenhain and the state road 1062 to Stadtroda . The village and its surroundings are located in a valley bordered by meadows and forest and on a slightly higher level.
history
On March 21, 1439 the first documentary mention of the village was. 170 people inhabit the place. The Upper and Lower Gneus use the Untergneus village church , which is owned by the oldest organ in the former Stadtroda district , built in 1737 .
On March 1, 1951, the previously independent communities of Obergneus and Untergneus were merged to form the new community of Gneus.
The village is characterized by forest and agriculture.
