Oberkampf is an underground transfer station of the Paris Métro . It is served by lines 5 and 9 .
location
The metro station is located in the Quartier de la Folie-Méricourt in the 11th arrondissement of Paris . Its two stations are - offset lengthways to each other - under the Boulevard Voltaire.
Surname
It is named after the Rue Oberkampf, which crosses the Boulevard Voltaire. Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf (1738–1815) was a cloth manufacturer and textile printer . In 1759 he founded the first French factory for printed fabrics in the Paris suburb of Jouy-en-Josas . Although a Protestant and a native German, he became a French citizen in 1770 and in 1787 by Louis XVI. raised to the nobility .
history
The station of line 5 was put into operation on January 15, 1907, four weeks after the opening of the northern extension of the line to Lancry station (since 1946 Jacques Bonsergent ).
On December 10, 1933, the line 9 station was added. This was extended that day from Richelieu - Drouot to Porte de Montreuil .
description
Both stations are under elliptical vaulted ceilings, they have curved side walls and side platforms on two main tracks. The station of line 5 still has the original Parisian standard length of 75 m, that of line 9 was already built with a length of 105 m for possible seven-car trains.
For reasons of space, the station of line 9 was not placed next to, but northwest in front of line 5. There is no track connection between the two lines, line 9 has a simple track change northwest of its station .
The subway station has four entrances from the street. The entrance at the intersection with Rue de Crussol bears a candelabra designed by Adolphe Dervaux in the Art Deco style .
vehicles
The Sprague-Thomson trains on line 5 were replaced from 1978 by vehicles from the MF 67 series , which were followed by MF 01 trains from 2011 .
Initially, Sprague-Thomson-type trains, which were last used there, also ran on line 9. In 1983 the MF 67 series was launched. The MF 01 series has been increasingly used since October 2013, and the last MF 67 train ran on line 9 on December 14, 2016.
Remarks
- ↑ The last Sprague Thomson train in regular service was on line 9 on April 16, 1983
